  • No long-term commitments

  • Know where you really stand

Be In The Know. Gain Control. Grow Your Business.

Financials can be intimidating for business owners.

You honed your craft and built your business on your technical expertise, so it's no surprise becoming a numbers whiz doesn't come naturally to you. And that's okay! We get it. But what happens when you continue to rely on guesswork and gut feel to run your business? You struggle. After 28 years in the trenches, this is what we see most business owners struggling to understand:

  • Pricing — how much to charge so you don't leave money on the table

  • Cash control — how to make sure you always have enough cash to cover bills and payroll

  • Cash crises — how much of an emergency fund does you business need

  • Owner pay — how should a business owner pay themselves

  • Nasty tax bills — why you owe tax when the business feels unprofitable

  • FOMO — the fear of missing out because you don't know what you don't know when it comes to business deductions, tax rules, and profit strategy.

The best-run firms we work with aren't smarter or luckier. They just operate from a clear financial picture — and they use that picture to make better calls on projects, cash, vendors, and taxes. That picture is what we build for our clients. A deeper understanding of what drives success in your business means you'll make more profitable business decisions.

You have a trusted bookkeeper and tax preparer.

Now, it's time you had someone in your corner, reading your numbers and explaining to you exactly what they mean for you and your business.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions most business owners ask before they get started.

What is project-based fractional CFO advisory?

Most fractional CFOs charge a monthly retainer whether you need them that month or not. Project-based advisory is different. We work in defined engagements with a clear start, a clear end, and a specific outcome. You get the strategic clarity of a CFO without the open-ended monthly bill.

How does a financial visibility engagement actually help my business?

We translate your numbers into plain language and clear actions. You learn what's actually driving your profit and cash, what you can control, and what to do next. Most owners walk away from their first engagement with three or four specific decisions they can act on immediately — and a much clearer picture of what their business is really doing

What is Strategic Action Planning?

Strategic Action Planning is quarterly support after your initial engagement. Every 90 days we sit down, look at where you stand, and build your next 90-day plan together. It keeps your financial picture current and your decisions grounded — without committing to a monthly retainer you don't need

Is a fractional CFO worth it for a smaller business?

Probably not in the traditional sense — most full-time fractional CFOs cost $3,000–$12,000 a month, and that's a heavy lift for a business under $10M. But the strategic clarity behind a CFO is absolutely worth it. We deliver clarity on the profit and cash flow drivers you can control in your business - these are the highest-impact levers you have. It makes sense to invest in help managing these because once cash flow is steady, you have the freedom to take your business in any direction you choose.

Do I need to leave my current bookkeeper or tax preparer?

No. We work alongside your existing bookkeeper and tax preparer. We don't do bookkeeping or prepare returns. We do the strategic financial work nobody else has time to do — and we make your existing team more effective, not redundant.

What size businesses do you work with?

Small business is the bread and butter of our business and always has been for 20+ years. While our pricing is small business friendly, our services are overkill for most businesses that have income of less than $1M a year but we're not snobby, if you're smaller (than that and want to grow your business the smart way, we'll be happy to help you!)

When should I hire a CPA to help me with my business accounting and taxes?

We wish founders would hire a CPA as soon as they start a business. Waiting too long after starting up can cause expensive headaches later on. With our project-based CFO Advisory, you get access to our CPA without the price tag of a full-service engagement.

When should I hire a Fractional CFO to help me grow my business?

If you're business is hitting the seven figures then you could definitely benefit from hiring a Fractional CFO to help bridge the gap between finance and strategy.

What are your fees for accounting services?

We no longer offer traditional bookkeeping or tax services so we can focus on helping small businesses make more money period. Founder, it's time to get your life back. We can help. You'll be your bookkeeper and tax preparer's favorite client once you get control of your cash and profit.

How do you ensure the confidentiality of my financial information?

We prioritize your privacy and adhere to strict confidentiality policies. We have a written information security protocol (WISP) in place to guide all personnel in handling your personally identifying information (PII). All financial information is securely stored and accessed only by authorized personnel.

What qualifications and experience do your accountants have?

Our team consists of certified public accountants (CPAs), experienced CFOs, controllers, bookkeepers, and payroll administrators. Each team member has years of experience and holds professional credentials and industry-specific certifications. Our founder, Jennifer Todd, has been licensed in Virginia as a CPA since October 1999. Visit our About Us page to learn more.

Where are you located?

Our firm is headquartered in Gloucester, Virginia, and our team is distributed across Virginia, Illinois, and Texas. We work remotely with our clients across the entire United States.

Do you work with nonprofit organizations?
